Our Founder
Dan McMillan
Founder and Executive Director
Since he turned 20 in 1980, our founder, Dan McMillan, has watched the political system grow increasingly dysfunctional while the voices of everyday Americans have been drowned out in Washington. Drawing on his background in history and law, Dan set out to understand the root cause of America’s decline and identified money in politics as Public Enemy #1. In 2010, he began researching and writing a book on the issue. By 2020, he shifted from analysis to action. He saw Voter Dollars as the most powerful solution and made it his life’s mission to make it law.
Our Campaign
Our politicians are trapped in a cycle of big-money fundraising. Americans are ready for change.
Voter Dollars gives every registered voter an online account with $100 in campaign cash to donate during presidential election years and $50 to donate during midterms.
No one in Washington will lead this change. They can’t. They’re too reliant on donor dollars. That’s why this has to come from us. We the People.
Save Democracy in America does not solicit donations from the public. Instead, our founder Dan McMillan has chosen to personally fund this campaign. It’s part of Save Democracy in America’s commitment to building a movement that’s powered by the American people, not influenced by big money.
